On November 1, 2008, UCLA Extension was no longer able to provide the optional post-graduate professional credit to 2008-2009 Institute attendees.
Students enrolled as of October 31, 2008, for Summer 2008 and Fall 2008 Quarters will receive the UCLA Extension credit upon course work completion.

Overview of 2008-09 Courses
Two Quarter Unit Course
With 4 to 6 Teacher Modules Completion - $150
(1.33 semester units)
- Three course selections
- Prerequisite: completion of 4-6 teacher modules
- Assignment: Read articles and complete short answer responses or short essays
- Assignment submission: online via your account at readinglions.net/register.
- Participants who fully attend while on district time typically are not eligible for salary advancement associated with the 4-unit course
Four Quarter Unit Course
With 9-10 Teacher Modules Completion - $300
(2.67 semester units)
- Seven course selections
- Prerequisite: completion of 9-10 teacher modules
- Assignment: Read textbook and complete short answer responses and short essay requirements.
- Assignment submission: online via your account at readinglions.net/register.
- Participants who fully attend while on district time typically are not eligible for salary advancement associated with the 4-unit course.
Four Quarter Unit Course
With Institute Completion - $300
(2.67 semester units)
- Seven course selections
- Prerequisite: 5 days of institute attendance, including homework
- Assignment submission: online via your account at readinglions.net/register.
- Assignment: Read textbook and complete short answer responses and short essay requirements.
- Participants who fully attend while on district time typically are not eligible for salary advancement associated with the 4-unit course.
Four or Eight Quarter Unit Course
With Passport Completion - $300 or $450
(2.67 or 5.34 semester units)
- Five course selections
- Prerequisite: 5 days of institute attendance, including homework and also 40 hours (with ELPD) or 80-hours of Passport
- Assignment: Read textbook and complete short answer responses and short essay requirements.
- Assignment submission: online via your account at readinglions.net/register.
- Participants who fully attend while on district time typically are eligible for salary advancement associated with the 4 or 8 unit course with the completion of the 80-hour Passport.
Special Notes:
The Maximum number of units that are available per year is 12 quarter units (8 semester units).
The 4 and 8 quarter units associated with Passport completion are not available to Coach Institute participants.
All courses are pass/no pass. Anything other than "incomplete" is a passing grade. There are four assignment grades: 1=excellent reflective essay; 2=well detailed; 3=acceptable; 4=incomplete.
